Advanced Study
The goal of the Kumon Method is for children to study materials ahead of their grade level. Kumon recognizes three categories of advanced students: six months, two years, and three years and above ahead of grade level. Achieving Advanced Student Honor Roll (ASHR) status is a significant accomplishment and rewarded in the following manner:
- All ASHR students receive a certificate in March and September
- First time ASHR students receive certificates in March, June, September and December
- All ASHR students receive a special sticker each quarter
- A poster listing the 20 most advanced students is produced each quarter
- All ASHR students receive a trophy at the Annual Award Ceremony
ASHR is calculated and rewarded separately for math, reading and Kokugo. The ASHR awards are sent from the Kumon North America Headquarter in New Jersey to the Instructor for distribution to the students.
